Singing Bowls are made and used across Asia, but are primarily from the Himalayan region. They are made with a combination of metals, and each metal produces a tone, making them unique multiphonic instruments with multiple harmonic overtones. They are easy to play, and the combination of their sounds and vibrations makes them deeply meditative. Singing Bowls can be used to relax and revitalize and provide a focal point to quiet mental chatter, to induce deep meditation and trance, for energetically cleansing a person or place, creating a sacred space, elevating a ceremony, and for balancing and clearing chakras. As well as personal use, they can be incorporated into contemporary therapies: music therapy, holistic healing, and alternative medicines. In Buddhist practice, they are used as support for meditation and prayer.
